Costumes
Please make sure that you have proper ballet tights! These can be purchased from Diana. Please name all clothing especially tutus!!
All costumes have been ordered, some sizes take longer to come in. Costumes that have been delivered are currently being given out.
If the tutu straps are too big, please adjust them nearer to the show in case your child grows! In order to keep the tutus looking nice, please turn the tutus inside out to ensure the net remains stiff.
All children should have their own named ballet shoes, and those in Grade 1 and above have their own named character skirt and named character shoes as well. Please also make sure all elastics are securely attached to the shoe and firm around your child's foot.
Hair
For the show ALL hair should be styled in a bun. For information on how hair should be done click here for a printable guide, alternatively look below. Please note you will need ALL the items on the list. If you are new to this, you might consider having a trial run first! You will need :A comb and
a hair brush2 pony tail
bandsA pack of
Kirby grips (similar colour to your child’s hair)A pack of
bun pins (as above)A bun net
(as above)Hair gel
(the cheap stuff is best)Hair spray
(Firm hold)How to make the perfect classical bun
- Brush and tie the hair into a tight
high ponytail, not on the top of the head.
- Plait the pony tail if long, and tie
with the other band.
- Wind the plait tightly around the
base of the pony tail and grip into place. It is best to use grips for fine
hair and pins for thicker hair.
- Stretch the net and place it over
the bun, twist and hide any slack
- Work around the bun, pushing pins
and grips into the base of the bun ( joining the bun with the rest of the hair)
- Ask the child to shake her head and
ask if it feels secure. (If it doesn’t add more pin
- Put the gel over the hair and smooth
down using the comb. Grip any sticky-up bits.
- Hair spray it all (reminding the
child to cover eyes and close mouth!)
